These are some of the questions we receive most often.
If you have a question that is not answered here, please feel free to contact us.
How to generate your course completion certificate
Several of our courses already have a course certificate that you can generate and download.
A course certificate can be generated when you complete a course. That means, when you complete all lectures and quizzes.
This video shows how to generate your certificate, and how to edit the name that appears in it.
How to set your profile info and visibility
When you create an account on techexplorations.com, there are several items of information that are part of your account and are visible to other users of the website.
These are your public name, your account handle, your profile image, and the bio.
You have control over this information and who can see it.
In this video, I show you how to edit your profile information, and how to control who sees it.
Points to remember:
- Your public name can be anything
- Your account handle must be unique on the Tech Explorations website
- Your account email address is not shown to other users unless you have used it as your handle or your public name. This can be changed, as I show in the video.
If you need any help with your profile information and are unable to make the necessary changes to your account on your own, please raise a Help Desk ticket.
How to control the video player image quality
We have recorded all course High Definition, so the image is crisp and clear.
Most videos are recorded in 1080p, with a small number of older videos recorded in 720p.
The video player will automatically choose a resolution that fits your download speed, but you can also manually change the setting.
Here’s an example of the video player with the quality widget open:
Click on the cogwheel to show the menu, and choose 1080p (or the highest available resolution).
This change will improve the quality of the video.
However, please remember: when you choose a higher video resolution, the video will need a bit more time to buffer.
How to pay using a credit card or your Paypal balance
To accept payments, we use the Paypal payment gateway.
Paypal is an extremely secure way of paying for online goods and services. You can read about how Paypal protects your payments here (this link will take you to paypal.com where Paypal maintains its page on safe online shopping). And here is an interesting article on The Street that explains how secure Paypal is – perhaps more secure than your Bank.
In this very short video, you will learn how to choose your method of payment, between your credit card and your Paypal account.
In particular, to pay with credit card, you do not need to logon to your Paypal account. However, logging on allows Paypal to record the credit card transaction, so that you can keep an independent record of your purchase (we will always email you a receipt and record of purchase).
If you have any payment questions, please feel free to ask via our Help Desk.

I have purchased the print or ebook version of KiCad Like a Pro. How do I access the KiCad forum?
At the moment, we don’t have an automated way to give you access to the KiCad forum, unless you are a student of the video course.
However, you still can access the KiCad Forum, and it is simple:
If you have purchased the ebook or print versions of KiCad Like a Pro, please raise a support ticket to request access to the KiCad forum.
Please watch this video for more details.
I have a problem in my personal project. Can you help me?

However, if you are a member of our Makers Club, you are welcome to discuss anything related to technology, personal or work projects, and, of course, science.
Badges and recognising your progress
Learning is an active process of acquiring new skills.
Learning should leave a trail of evidence behind. This trail could consist of things that you have made (gadgets, sketches), documents (notes in your notebook, blog posts etc), forum conversations.
Another great way to create a learning trail is through the collection of badges.
If you are enrolled to a course on the Tech Explorations website, you will earn badges when you complete specific achievements. Think of an achievement as an activity that relates to your learning process. Here’s some examples:
- Complete a lecture
- Complete a section
- Complete a quiz with a score over 90%
- Complete a quiz with a perfect score: 100%
- Post a reply to a forum topic
- Complete a Learn by Doing activity
We are constantly reviewing and updating the kind of achievements that can earn you badges.
With every badge, you will also earn the associated achievement points. These points are added to your current total.
To collect badges, just complete lectures, sections, quizzes, and participate in forum discussions.
You can see your current totals in your profile page. To get to your profile page, click on your avatar icon on the top right side of the top navigation bar.
In addition to the above, when you complete a full course, you will earn a special Course Completed badge. This badge will be send to your Credly account, where you can collect badges from various activities across the Internet. This way, you can have the equivalent of a school certificate outside of Tech Explorations. You also have the option to share these badges with anyone on the Internet.
